Our providers are specially trained in women’s health and sex differences, but can also treat men and individuals assigned male at birth for most conditions. Our platform is designed to support individuals aged 13 and above.
We’re not able to accept insurance for medical fees or membership fees, but some pharmacies may accept your health insurance for medication. We’ll ask for your insurance information during your online visit.
Every insurance plan is different. If you want to use insurance benefits for a prescription, check your insurance plan’s formulary to learn about what medications are included in your plan. However, some medications are only covered for certain conditions or with certain requirements.
Even if a medication is covered by your insurance plan, you may still have a copay. Your insurance company may have lower copay pricing at different pharmacies. To learn more about your coverage, call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:
- Do you cover medications for my condition?
- Which medications do you cover?
- Will I have a copay?
- Is prior authorization required for any of these medications?
- What are the requirements to receive a prior authorization?
- Is there a preferred pharmacy for my insurance plan?
- If you want to use insurance benefits for a weight loss medication, ask your insurance company the following questions:
- Do you cover weight loss medications?
- If so, which medications do you cover?
- Do you cover these medications only if I have a weight-related diagnosis such as type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol?
- Are there certain medications patients have to be prescribed before others will be covered? (This is often called step therapy.)
- Will I have a copay?
- Is prior authorization required for weight loss medications?
- What are the requirements to receive a prior authorization?
- Is there a preferred pharmacy for my insurance plan?
- Your insurance may require a prior authorization in order to cover the cost of a medication.
Please note: Currently, Medicare, Medicaid, and other state- or federally-funded plans cannot be used for any prescription written by an Alpha provider. If you have one of these plans, you will have to pay the cash price for medication, if your plan allows.
Hello Alpha does not accept funds from a health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) for payment at this time. Hello Alpha provides access to medical care on a cash-pay basis. Hello Alpha values affordable, accessible healthcare, and we are proud to make virtual primary care available at some of the lowest costs in the market. We are not a health plan. Whether or not you are able to use an HSA or FSA to pay for Hello Alpha visits will depend on your plan. Contact your account provider for more information. To assist you in using your HSA or FSA for any prescriptions, ask your Alpha provider to send your prescription to your preferred pharmacy. Hello Alpha is unable to coordinate or participate in filing of forms, invoices, or other documents required by your HSA or FSA. We recommend contacting your HSA or FSA provider for more information on how to use that account. You can obtain copies of invoices any time in your patient portal.
Our providers only prescribe medication based on clinical guidelines. Alpha Membership does not guarantee a prescription.
